As part of its Ramadan lecture series, The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) hosted Sheikh Legré Yahya, President of the National Executive Council of the Confederation of Islamic Associations, Organizations and Councils of Ivory Coast, and a founding member of the Religions for Peace Alliance, in a virtual lecture titled “African Scholars and Their Contributions.”

During the lecture, he discussed the role of African scholars in serving Islam and their intellectual contributions across various societies.

At the beginning of his remarks, he expressed his appreciation to the Council for its efforts in strengthening joint Islamic work, praising its cooperation with leading muftis and thinkers in supporting a global Islamic organization that contributes to developing strategic and executive plans to enhance coordination among Islamic associations and councils worldwide.

He stressed that Muslims bear a significant responsibility in strengthening moral and spiritual foundations within their societies, emphasizing the importance of instilling values of obedience to God and avoiding despair and greed, which contributes to building cohesive communities based on faith and ethics.

He added that the Muslim nation possesses the resources and capabilities necessary to reclaim its civilizational role, expressing confidence in its ability to restore its glory and status if these resources are properly utilized in the service of development, knowledge, and human advancement.

He pointed out that state-building is a collaborative endeavour requiring the participation of all citizens and various sectors of society, emphasizing the importance of fostering patriotism and joint action to achieve national prosperity and stability.

He further explained that building strong nations that their citizens take pride in is not easy; rather, it requires hard work, the reinforcement of values, and a commitment to truth, noting that the progress of societies depends on the efforts of their people and their belief in the importance of collective work.

He also stressed the need to enhance participation and solidarity among communities, affirming that the blessings granted by God should be preserved and invested in improving people’s lives and contributing to building a prosperous nation.

In his closing remarks, he emphasized that unity and peaceful coexistence are fundamental pillars for the advancement of nations, warning that their absence leads to the weakening and collapse of societies, and calling for strengthening unity among all components of society regardless of political, ethnic, or religious diversity.
