The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) held an online lecture titled: “How Does the Qur’an Revive Our Hearts in Ramadan?”, delivered by Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Ismail, Secretary-General of the Association of Scholars and Imams in Britain, as part of the Council’s series of lectures during the holy month of Ramadan.

During the lecture, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Ismail emphasised that the holy month of Ramadan represents the spiritual peak of the Islamic year and the most valuable opportunity to reform the soul and renew the covenant with God through the gateway of the Holy Qur’an.

He explained that preparing for Ramadan is a Prophetic practice (Sunnah), beginning in the month of Sha’ban, during which the Prophet ﷺ would ready Muslims to embrace this season of faith that strengthens social solidarity and awareness of the needs of the poor and needy.

He noted that fasting is not merely abstaining from food and drink but is a practical training in sincerity and avoiding hypocrisy, as it is a private act of worship between the servant and God, granting it unique and immense reward.

In this context, he highlighted the profound connection between Ramadan and the Holy Qur’an, pointing out that the value of Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Power) comes from it being the night the revelation (Wahy) was sent down, making it better than a thousand months.

He added that the Qur’an revives hearts by guiding humans toward the straight path and helping them distinguish truth from falsehood, emphasizing that the Prophet ﷺ set the example by increasing recitation and reflection on the Holy Qur’an during this month.

He concluded by affirming that Heaven is prepared to welcome the fasting believers throughout the year and urged Muslims to seize the blessings of Ramadan by instilling patience and sincerity, making the Qur’an their guide and methodology in all aspects of life.
