The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) hosted an online lecture titled “Islam, Language, and Media: Toward Deeper Understanding and Broader Coexistence”, delivered by Dr. Rosanna Maryam Sirignano, founder of Italy’s first online digital initiative dedicated to Arab and Islamic studies for personal development.
In her address, Dr. Sirignano affirmed that the internet has been an effective tool for disseminating the true teachings of Islam, especially at a time when European media has often failed to portray the religion accurately.
She explained that learning Arabic has served as a first gateway to Islam for many, including herself, and stressed that Islamic culture is intrinsically linked to the Arabic language. She therefore called for greater support for teaching and promoting Arabic language and culture.
Dr. Sirignano further noted that Islam is a universal faith that embraces cultural diversity and fosters harmonious coexistence among its followers.
She also highlighted that the concept of the “silent invitation” represents the highest form of outreach, as it is grounded in dignified conduct and courteous interaction guided by Islamic values—particularly within non-Muslim societies.
Dr. Sirignano emphasized that a Muslim’s behavior serves as a direct reflection of Islam in the eyes of the West, and that promoting Islamic culture among non-Muslims plays a vital role in correcting misconceptions about Islam across Europe.
