- 2025-Sep-17
The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) is taking part in the Manila International Book Fair, held in the Philippine capital from 10–14 September 2025, with wide participation from publishing houses and cultural and intellectual institutions.
At its pavilion, the TWMCC is showcasing 3 publications in Filipino and 13 publications in English. Among the highlights is "Southeast Asian Islam: Indigenized Theology and Jurisprudence," which explores the arrival and spread of Islam in the Southeast Asian archipelago through trade and cultural adaptation, abd highlights the role of scholars and local leaders in promoting the Sunnah and integrating Islam into Javanese communities. It also examines how Islamic jurisprudence interacted with local customs and influenced legislation and social relations.
Another featured publication is "Southeast Asian Islam: Architecture, Arts and New Cultures," which reviews educational methods and public discourse in Malaysia and Indonesia, along with a study of the architectural character of mosques in the region. The TWMCC is also presenting "Matriarchal Islam: Muslim Women's Leadership in Al-Andalus and Beyond," which documents women’s roles in Arab societies across history and the influence of Arab migrations on customs and traditions in North Africa.
The TWMCC’s participation aligns with its mission to promote cultural dialogue, consolidate shared human values, and spread the principles of moderation, tolerance, and coexistence with diverse peoples and cultures.
