Brazilian Muslims Celebrate Zayed Humanitarian Day*

 The Federation of Islamic Institutions in Brazil organized an Iftar party in honor of the visit of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Bechari, Secretary-General of The World Muslim Communities Council, on Wednesday, April 21, at the Muslim Boxer Mohamed Ali Hall at the Grand Islamic Center.


 His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al-Zoghbi, President of the Federation of Islamic Institutions in Brazil, announced the need for Muslim communities to communicate with global Islamic intellectual figures, to benefit from their experiences, and to crystallize these experiences into practical programs to serve Islam, teach Arabic to non-native speakers, and dialogue and communicate with other religions and cultures.


 Al Zoghbi also thanked the United Arab Emirates for its humanitarian work.


 His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Bechari, Secretary-General of The World Muslim Communities Council, thanked the management and members of the Federation of Islamic Institutions in Brazil for honoring the Council, which indicates the common interest between the two institutions in achieving common goals and raise the level of institutions of Muslim communities.


 His Excellency stressed that the ceremony is an occasion to commemorate the "Zayed Day for Humanitarian", in recognition of what the founding father, Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy on him, presented in around the world without discrimination on religious or ethnic grounds, until he became a model for charity, as well as the sons of Sheikh Zayed, who were keen to continue  their the parent's approach.


 His Excellency stressed the keenness of the Council and its Chairman, His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, to communicate with Islamic leaders with the aim of activating joint action, correcting the image of Islam, and dismantling the discourse of extremism in the media and school curricula.


 At the conclusion of his speech, Dr. Bechari called on Islamic institutions in Brazil to cooperate, joint coordination, and stand against extremism that serves an agenda alien to the needs of Muslim communities.


 At the end of the ceremony, the parties exchanged commemorative shields. The shields of the Council were handed over to Dr. Mohamed Al-Zoghbi, President of the Federation;  the mayor of the city of São Paulo; And Professor Ali Ahmed Al-Saifi, on the authority of the Islamic Call Center for Latin America and the Caribbean Islands.


 The ceremony was attended by members of the city's diplomatic corps, Christian religious, cultural and political leaders, as well as the Egyptian mission in San Paolo.
