As part of the daily Ramadan episodes, The World Muslim Communities Council organized, on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, a virtual episode entitled "Ramadan in Britain", during which Sheikh Dr. Mohamed Ismail, Deputy Lord-Lieutenant, Secretary-General of the Association of Scholars and Imams in Britain, spoke via the Council's social media pages.

The Deputy Deputy Lord-Lieutenant in Britain said that Allah has decreed upon us fasting during Ramadan in a certain number of days in order to forgive us our sins, according to the words of the Holy Prophet, “Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven,” explaining that fasting is a secret between the servant and his Lord, and does not include showing off.

The Secretary-General of the Association of Scholars and Imams in Britain added that Allah decreed fasting for us as He prescribed it on previous religions, such as Judaism and Christianity, pointing out that the goal of fasting is the worship of Allah and self-control.

Ismail explained that the doctors emphasized that fasting has health benefits, and makes us feel the suffering of the poor.

The Secretary-General of the Association of Scholars and Imams in Britain indicated that Allah Almighty allowed the sick or those who are on a journey to fast or break their fast, and that the number of fasting hours here in Britain sometimes reaches 20 hours, which is difficult for pregnant women, nursing mothers and the sick.

Ismail said that major shops in Britain reduce the prices of some products during Ramadan, which is something that finds great welcome from Muslims, added that mosques open their doors to worshipers and organize breakfast for the needy, even from non-Muslims to learn about the customs and traditions of Islam, noting that the former British Prime Minister, Theresa May, had told him that the Muslim community donated £1 billion during Ramadan to those in need, whether Muslims or non-Muslims, which made him happy and made him feel proud.

It is noteworthy that The World Muslim Communities Council is an international non-governmental organization, headquartered in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.  It is considered a think tank to rationalize organizations and societies working in Muslim societies, renew their thinking and improve their performance in order to achieve one goal;  The integration of Muslim societies in their countries, in a way that their members realize the perfection of citizenship and complete affiliation with the Islamic religion.  The council seeks, through holding dozens of virtual conferences, seminars and activities, to localize the concepts of religious, ethnic and cultural pluralism, in a manner that preserves human dignity and respect for his beliefs, and establishes the values of moderation, dialogue  , tolerance and belonging to the homelands.
