Dr. Mohammed Al-Bashari, Secretary-General of the World Muslim Communities Council, took part in a scholarly seminar entitled “From Hilf al-Fudul to the New Hilf al-Fudul: Resuming the Human Pursuit of Shared Values”. The seminar was held as part of the 31st edition of the Rabat International Publishing and Book Fair 2026, which is taking place in Rabat from 1 to 10 May 2026.
The seminar was organised by the UAE Embassy in Rabat in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace, as part of joint efforts to promote the values of peace and coexistence, and to strengthen cultural and ethical engagement in international forums.
In his remarks, Dr Al-Bashari explored the civilisational and humanitarian dimensions of Hilf al-Fudul as a historical model of alliance in defence of the oppressed and the protection of rights. He emphasised that this moral legacy remains an inspiring reference for building global partnerships grounded in justice and human dignity.
He further underscored the importance of drawing upon shared values to address contemporary challenges through practical initiatives that foster a culture of dialogue, counter hate speech, and support social stability and human coexistence.
Dr Al-Bashari noted that the world today is in need of new value-based alliances that restore the centrality of the human being and contribute to shaping a more just and peaceful future. He added that when values are translated into institutions, programmes, and initiatives, they become an effective force in advancing stability and development.
The participation of TWMCC in this event reflects its ongoing role in supporting intellectual and cultural initiatives aimed at promoting a culture of peace and enhancing dialogue and cooperation among diverse societies and cultures.
