TWMCC Condemns the Exploitation of Religion to Betray Nations
- 2026-Apr-22
The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) follows with grave concern the revelations made by the competent authorities in the United Arab Emirates regarding the dismantling of a clandestine organisation linked to the 'Guardianship of the Jurist' in Iran. This organisation sought to infiltrate the social fabric and exploit religion as a cover for cross-border political projects aimed at undermining state sovereignty and destabilising its security. These findings confirm that the threat is no longer composed of isolated incidents but has evolved into covert operational systems that rely on intellectual and organisational penetration, leveraging religious slogans to justify political deviations.
On behalf of Muslim communities worldwide, TWMCC declares its categorical rejection of all attempts to instrumentalize religion for hegemonic projects or the creation of loyalties parallel to the nation-state. This applies whether such attempts originate from political Islam groups (such as the Muslim Brotherhood), which view the organisation as an end in itself, or from projects aimed at exporting the Khomeinist Revolution, managed under the logic of 'transnational religious authority' and known in its literature as the 'Guardianship of the Jurist'.
Despite their differing slogans, these paths converge in undermining the concept of the state, weakening national belonging, and fueling conflicts that serve neither the stability nor the interests of societies.
TWMCC emphasises that state security is not merely an administrative matter but the very foundation of human civilisation. Protecting societies from intellectual and organisational infiltration is a collective responsibility that brooks no complacency. Consequently, TWMCC calls upon all segments of Muslim societies—scholars, institutions, and individuals—to remain vigilant against discourses that oversimplify religion into slogans, transform faith into a tool for political mobilisation, and dismantle national loyalty under ideological pretexts.
TWMCC also lauds the high efficiency and advanced readiness demonstrated by the United Arab Emirates' security services in monitoring and thwarting these plots, stressing that this performance reflects an advanced model of proactivity and professionalism, proving that safeguarding stability requires constant vigilance and cohesive institutional action.
Furthermore, TWMCC expresses its full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates in the face of all forms of Iranian aggression, including indirect methods employed by regional parties through clandestine networks and organisations. It reaffirms its support for the UAE in defending its sovereignty, security, and stability, viewing this as a defence of a state model that balances openness with firmness, and tolerance with sovereignty.
TWMCC urges Muslim communities to be active partners in preserving their homelands and to reject any discourse that harnesses religion outside its intended purposes or employs it against the stability of states and the unity of their peoples, and to make national belonging a non-negotiable pillar, and collective awareness must serve as a fortress against any infiltration.
