  • 2025-Nov-13

The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) organised an online seminar titled “Muslims in Europe: Between Identity and Belonging”, presented by Dr. Konrad Tomasz Pędziwiatr, Professor of International Affairs at Krakow University of Economics in Poland.

The session was part of TWMCC’s intellectual lecture series, which aims to promote greater understanding of issues affecting Muslim communities worldwide.

In his lecture, Dr. Pędziwiatr discussed how the significant migration of Muslims to Europe following World War II reshaped the continent’s social and demographic landscape. He noted that Islam’s presence in Europe has deep historical roots dating back to the Middle Ages, beginning in regions such as Sicily and Spain.

Dr. Pędziwiatr further highlighted that European Muslims’ aspirations are based on their right to full citizenship, encompassing equal rights and responsibilities, alongside constructive integration within their societies.

He stressed that religious identity does not conflict with modern civic values, emphasizing that Muslims today are an essential and active component of European society rather than isolated or marginal groups.
